Talented Nigerian youths ingeniously hone their crafts to make skits, influencing lives and at the same time making good fortune. Entertainment in Nigeria has witnessed many euphoric ovations via growing stellar performances.

Skit making is not only therapeutic; It is the new oil. A host of Nigerian skit makers now make big waves across social media, starring as internet sensations. A good credit to our national life.

Today, artistry excellence now put Nigeria on the map as the hub of innovative ideas, producing feelings of well-being and elation. Skit making has grown to become one of the most lucrative jobs in Nigeria, moving a number of youths out of the unemployment bracket.

Debo Macaroni

Adebowale Debo Adedayo (born 3 May 1993), known by his stage name Mr Macaroni, is a thespian, content creator, brand influencer, compere and activist. His hilarious comic skits on social media, earned him the monicker;”Daddy wa“. He is a multiple awards winning artist, bagging several nominations.

Debo and his many satires advocating social justice and inclusiveness, booked him a space in the black book, following his frontline during the 2020 ENDSARS protests in Nigeria. Succinct is Debo’s popular whimsical catchwords like ‘Ooin‘, “Freaky freaky” and “‘You are doing well“‘.

Another good niche of cliche is his popular duet Youtube series, featuring his fictitious wife; Kemi Ikuseedun (Mummy wa).

Sabinus

Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, popularly known as Mr Funny, Oga Sabinus or Investor Sabinus, is a Nigerian comedian, actor and skit maker. Born in Port Harcourt, Rivers state. His hallmark costume encapsulates a blue shirt, black trouser and a funny fitting tie.

Sabinus’ debut in 2015, ushered in a limelight in the year 2019, amassing large followers on Instagram. He has grown to become a big force to reckon with, in the entertainment industry.

Popularly, Sabinus has grown as companies’ ambassador and as a hilarious comedian distinct for his humorous catchphrase; “Something hooge“. Mr Funny has also featured in multiple Nollywood movies, the likes of ‘Billionaire’s Bride’, ‘Man of War’ etc, winning several awards amidst multiple nominations. A delight to watch.

Samuel Animashaun Perry, known professionally as Broda Shaggi, is a Nigerian comedian, actor, songwriter, musician, and content maker, born in Ikenne, Ogun state. Early childhood, Broda Shaggi’s interest as a thespian was influenced by his late father who was a drama teacher.

Broda Shaggi is a graduate in creative arts from the University of Lagos. Today, he is famous for his satires among many parody drama on his Instagram page, and his feat as an award winning skit maker, with numerous nominations.

A great delight touted for his topless bare chest and knicker vogue. Another signature is his all-time lingo; “OYA, HIT ME“. An enigma of all round entertainment.

Taaooma

Maryam Apaokagi, professionally known as Taaooma, is a Nigerian comedian, content creator, cinematographer, and social media influencer. She currently serves as the CEO, and founder of Chop Tao, a food company, and directs for The Greenade Company, a cinematography firm.

Taaooma is known for playing multiple roles in her skits. Her comedy skits are centered on exposing African mothers and their unique manner of disciplining African children with a slap.

She won the keenly contested Gage awards and the Nigeria’s 25 under 25 awards, among other recognitions. Her career started in 2015 before rising to stardom in 2019.

Brain Jotter

Chukwuebuka Emmanuel Amuzie, professionally known as Brain Jotter, born in Owerri, Imo state, Nigeria, is a Nigerian comedian, content creator, Instagram sensation and brand influencer. His comedy videos are hilarious, earning him immense fame on Instagram, promoting various brands while influencing.

Brain Jotter began his career in comedy as a young, fast-rising Nigerian comedian since college days, who came to the spotlight in 2020 when he began sharing short comedy skits on Instagram. His creativity, uniqueness and style have made him stand out amongst peers.

Kiekie

Bukunmi Adeaga Ilori, popularly known by her stage name, Kiekie, is an actress, brand influencer, content creator, model, event host and TV personality, born June 20, 1990 in Ibadan, Oyo state.

Kiekie is a woman of many parts, playing the roles of a tailor and a pharmacy attendant in her skits. First, she began her career in 2015 when she worked with GoldMyne TV as the producer and host.

The duo of ‘Akinyoola Akinola’, known by his stage name; ‘Creative Kamo’ and “Hussein Mubarak Kehinde” popularly known as “Oseni” are popular stand up comedians and renowned actors in the famous comedy series;’ Nepa Boys’.

NEPA boys are matchless pair, who enjoy acting the mimicry of the officials of the defunct National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) across homes in their skits. Artistic duet by the NEPA boys will give you a good laugh in your belly. A good proof that the most appealing comes in twos. Twos are better!

The Cute Abiola

Abdulgafar Ahmad Oluwatoyin, with the stage name; ‘the cute Abiola“, is an online content creator, a prominent comedian, and social media influencer (born on the 28th of April, 1996) in Ilorin, Kwara State. Popularly known as “Lawyer Kunle” or “Ankara Gucci“, owing to his skit roles.

The comic actor has served in the Nigerian military as an ex-Navy personnel and currently as the SSA to Kwara state Governor. Among his many nominations is the City People Music Award for Comedy Act of the Year.

November 2022, the cute Abiola called Navy quits for entertainment, a tribute of becoming which he tagged roadmap to a sustainable career path in his citations.

Sydney Talker

Sydney Egere, professionally known as Sydney Talker (born 26 January,1995) in Benin, Edo state, Nigeria, is a Nigerian actor, comedian, media personality, and film director.

Sydney Talker began his career in the entertainment industry at the year 2016, creating comedy skits on his social media handles, particularly Instagram. His comedy skit ‘The Poor Power Supply’ (2016) was the big break.

Today, Sydney has starred in several Nollywood movies featuring A-star Nollywood geniuses, graciously dubbed as the Nigerian Mr. Bean- The Towel Guy. He is the founder and CEO of Neville Records, and nominated for the 25 Under 25 Award organized by SME100 Africa.

MC Lively

Michael Sani Amanesi, known by his stage name MC Lively (born August 14, 1992) is a Nigerian comedian and actor from Agenebode, Edo State, Nigeria.

A graduate from the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, where he studied, called to the Nigerian Bar in 2016, but finally choosing a career path in comedy, carving out the monicker; “Barrister Mike” in many of his numerous skits. His comedy debut dates back to 2015, before limelight.

MC Lively has featured in movies and also as stand up comedians, among other thespian roles. He has won for himself some prestigious nominations and coveted awards such as the Royal African Youth Leadership award given by the Ooni of Ife and the City People Music Award for Comedy Act of the Year, amongst others.

AFRICANS RISING; skit making is an integral part of the entertainment industry, and Nigerian youths in their uniqueness are the prize themselves.
