Nigerian singer Terry Apala has explained why he would not allow his partner to go to a public gym.

The 36-year-old artiste, known for his unique Apala fusion sound, shared his thoughts during an interview with Echo Room hosted by reality TV star Teddy A.

The singer said his decision was based on personal experiences from the time he attended different gyms in Lagos.

He recalled being a member of iFitness VGC and also registering at a gym in Megamound Estate, where he observed how some people used the space.

According to him, many women were less focused on exercising and more interested in recording videos or catching attention from men.

He also claimed that some men go to gyms mainly to meet women rather than for fitness purposes.

Terry Apala maintained that while a few people genuinely use gyms for workouts, many others treat it as a social spot.

This, he explained, was the main reason he would not be comfortable with his partner going to such places.

He said: “I will not allow my partner to go to the gym. I was a member of iFitness VGC so I’ve been there. I saw what was going down. I feel like ladies of nowadays are just going to the gym to just vibe and do videos. They’re just vibing, they’re not there to actually work out.

“If they really want to work out, they won’t be focused on doing videos. They are just there to seduce men because some men also go to the gym to look for women. I’m speaking from experience. I also once registered with a gym in Megamound Estate. I saw things there. Girls go there to do all manner of things.

“A lot of ladies are just at the gym to have fun. Maybe, few ladies are going to the gym to actually work out, but many of them are just going there to enjoy the vibe.”
