Nigerian music star Divine Ikubor, widely known as Rema, has shared how early fame took a toll on his life, revealing that he felt used during the early stages of his career.

The singer, who rose to stardom after signing with Mavin Records and releasing his debut EP in 2019 at just 19, reflected on his experiences in his latest track.

In ‘Moviestar,’ a collaboration with French pianist Sofiane Pamart, Rema disclosed through his lyrics that he had troubling encounters as a young artist, including being drugged by women.

Now 25, the Afrobeats sensation suggested that many fans are unaware of the emotional burden he carries, noting that they fail to grasp his struggles because he “got caught up so young.”
