Tinubu appoints Bernard Doro as minister to replace APC national chairman

Nigerian president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has put forward Bernard Doro of Plateau State for confirmation as a Minister of the Federal Republic.

This was confirmed in a statement released on Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.

The President has sent a formal request to the Senate for Doro’s approval.

This nomination comes after the previous Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Nentawe Yilwatda, was elected as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July, thereby creating the cabinet vacancy.

Doro, born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, has built a career spanning more than twenty years across various fields.

His professional background encompasses clinical practice, pharmaceutical administration, strategic leadership, and grassroots community work in both the United Kingdom and Nigeria.

He holds multiple advanced degrees, including qualifications in Pharmacy and Law, an MBA focused on IT-based business strategy, and a Master’s degree in Advanced Clinical Practice.

Doro is also recognised as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner and an Independent Prescriber with extensive hands-on experience in the UK’s National Health Service (NHS).

His clinical work includes roles in urgent care facilities, walk-in clinics, general practice, and hospital environments in the United Kingdom.

In addition to his medical and legal expertise, Doro has been a leader in youth mentorship programmes and social impact projects within both the diaspora and local communities.

Onanuga expressed the President’s expectation that the Senate will give prompt and appropriate consideration to the nominee.
