President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Shamsedeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the new Accountant General of the Federation.

His appointment, which follows a rigorous selection process, takes effect on March 7, 2025—the same day the incumbent, Oluwatoyin Madehin, is set to retire.

Ogunjimi, 57, was initially named as Madehin’s successor in December 2024.

However, his appointment was later subjected to a competitive and merit-based selection process involving Directors of Accounts in the Federal Civil Service.

The selection committee assessed candidates through three stages: a written examination, an ICT proficiency test, and oral interviews.

The process reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to transparency, excellence, and competence in key public service roles.

Ogunjimi holds a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Lagos.

He is also a fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.

Congratulating Ogunjimi on his appointment, President Tinubu urged him to serve the nation with integrity, professionalism, and dedication.
