President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Shamsedeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the new Accountant General of the Federation.
His appointment, which follows a rigorous selection process, takes effect on March 7, 2025—the same day the incumbent, Oluwatoyin Madehin, is set to retire.
Ogunjimi, 57, was initially named as Madehin’s successor in December 2024.
However, his appointment was later subjected to a competitive and merit-based selection process involving Directors of Accounts in the Federal Civil Service.
