Tinubu, First Lady host Super Falcons after historic WAFCON triumph

President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu welcomed Nigeria’s Super Falcons to the Presidential Villa on Monday in celebration of their landmark victory at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations held in Morocco.

The players and coaching staff, who were transported in coaster buses, arrived at the Aso Rock forecourt just before 4:36 p.m. They were warmly received by the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, before proceeding to the Presidential Banquet Hall.

The reception followed the Super Falcons’ remarkable 3-2 comeback win against host nation Morocco, which earned them their tenth WAFCON title. The match saw Nigeria overturn a 2-0 halftime deficit, a feat that drew commendation from President Tinubu during a post-match video call.

Nigeria’s dominance in women’s football continues to shine, with the team securing WAFCON titles in 2014, 2016, 2018, and now in 2025, solidifying their position as the continent’s most successful women’s football team.
