President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Emir of Gusau, Dr Ibrahim Bello, who died on Friday morning in Abuja at the age of 71.
In a condolence message issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the death of the monarch as a “collective loss,” acknowledging his dedication to public service and exemplary leadership.
“President Tinubu described the traditional ruler’s death as a collective loss beyond his immediate domain, citing his lifelong service at different levels,” the statement read.

The President also conveyed his sympathies to the government and people of Zamfara State, as well as to the family of the deceased royal father. He prayed for Allah’s mercy and peace upon his soul.
Dr Ibrahim Bello, the 16th Emir of Gusau, assumed the throne following the death of his father on March 16, 2015. Before his ascension, he served in the civil service and reached the rank of Permanent Secretary in both the former Sokoto State and later Zamfara State.
Confirming the news of his death, Sulaiman Idis, the spokesperson for Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, said the state government received the sad news with great sorrow.
