Tinubu: Nigeria will not bow to terrorists

President Bola Tinubu has called on the Nigerian military to intensify efforts in tackling terrorism and banditry, stressing that the nation will not surrender to terrorists.

Addressing troops of the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Katsina on Friday, the President reaffirmed his commitment to prioritising the welfare of the military while urging them to remain resolute in the battle for Nigeria’s sovereignty.

In his address, President Tinubu described the ongoing security challenges as a pivotal moment in the nation’s history, emphasising that the fight against terrorism, banditry, and insurgency is crucial for the survival of the country.

He rallied the troops, urging them to stay strong in their determination to restore peace across the nation.

“My dear soldiers, this is a defining moment in our history. The threats of terrorism, banditry, and insurgency have persisted for too long. Nigerians are counting on us and you to end this menace and reclaim every inch of our territory,” Tinubu stated.

“Let me hear you loudly: Are you ready? Are you committed to ending this insecurity once and for all? Let your resolve echo through every valley and forest. Let the enemies of Nigeria know—their time is up.”

The President’s visit to Katsina marked the beginning of a two-day tour of the state, which also included the inauguration of a 24km dual-carriage way and the Katsina Agricultural Mechanised Centre.

Tinubu emphasised that the ongoing fight was not just about securing territorial integrity but about safeguarding the very soul of Nigeria.

He praised the troops for their courage and unwavering commitment, acknowledging their sacrifices in confronting banditry and terrorism in Katsina and other parts of the country.

“The fight you are waging here in Katsina and across the country is not just a battle for territory; it is a battle for the soul of Nigeria,” he said.

“Your resilience in the face of danger inspires the entire nation. Your sacrifices do not go unnoticed. This war will not be won by weapons alone but by your will to stand, resist, fight, and triumph.”

In a bold message to those seeking to destabilise the country, including both domestic collaborators and foreign agents, President Tinubu declared, “Nigeria will not bow. Not to fear. Not to terror. Not to treachery.”

In his address, the President also reassured the troops that the federal government will continue to prioritise their welfare, including ensuring that their families are safe, allowances are paid promptly, healthcare is provided, and their dignity is upheld.

He highlighted that ongoing initiatives aimed at improving housing, family support systems, insurance coverage, and remuneration are being implemented.

“I stand before you today as your President, Commander-in-Chief, and fellow patriot, deeply humbled by your courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to our great nation’s peace, security, and sovereignty,” Tinubu said.

He continued, “You are the shields of Nigeria, the brave sons and daughters who stand between our people and the forces of terror. Every inch of ground you hold, every terrorist you neutralise, and every community you secure is a victory for justice, freedom, and the future of our children.”
