Tinubu reappoints NTA, NAN heads for second term

President Bola Tinubu has reappointed Abdulhamid Salihu Dembos as Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Ali Mohammed Ali as Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

The President approved a second three-year term for both chief executives, extending their leadership of the Federal Government’s major broadcast and news agencies.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, disclosed the reappointments in a statement issued yesterday.


According to Onanuga, the new terms will take effect on October 20, 2026.

Tinubu first appointed Dembos and Ali to their respective positions on October 20, 2023.

Dembos, from Yola, Adamawa State, began his broadcasting career as an announcer at the NTA Kaduna Network Centre after completing his National Youth Service Corps programme in 1989.

He later served as General Manager of NTA Lokoja and NTA Kano before retiring as Acting Zonal Director of the NTA Kaduna Network Centre in 2017.

He subsequently returned to the NTA as Executive Director of Marketing at the organisation’s headquarters.

Dembos also served as National President of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Art Workers Union (RATTAWU).

Ali, a veteran journalist and media manager, has more than three decades of experience in the media industry.

His professional interests include media transformation, digital content strategies and the development of alternative news services for diverse audiences.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Bayero University, Kano; a postgraduate diploma in Mass Communication from the same university; and a master’s degree in International Affairs from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

Tinubu urged both reappointed officials to justify the confidence placed in them by remaining committed to their agencies’ mandates and supporting the implementation of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
