President Bola Tinubu has reconstituted the board of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), appointing Dr. Musiliu Oseni as Chairman.

Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga announced the changes on December 18, 2025.

Dr. Yusuf Ali serves as Vice Chairman, with both appointments effective from December 1, 2025, after Senate confirmation on December 16.

Dr. Oseni, a former Commissioner since January 2017 and later Vice Chairman, retains his position until completing his 10-year tenure.

Dr. Ali, appointed Commissioner in February 2022, continues as Vice Chairman through his first term.

Other board members include Nathan Rogers Shatti, Dafe Akpeneye, Aisha Mahmud Kanti Bello, Dr. Chidi Ike, and Dr. Fouad Animashaun.

President Tinubu charged the new board to deepen transformation in Nigeria’s power sector.

This follows the Electricity Act 2023, which decentralises regulation and empowers states in electricity markets.

The reconstitution strengthens NERC’s oversight of tariffs, licensing, and consumer protection amid ongoing national power sector reforms.
