Skitmaker Zicsaloma has shared his view on how to achieve financial independence, urging people to set firm boundaries with money, even with close family members.
In a recent online video, he explained that escaping poverty often requires being strict about finances, and this can include limiting financial help to relatives.
He clarified that this approach is not about being cruel but about breaking the cycle of poverty.
Reflecting on his own life, Zicsaloma revealed that he always wanted financial stability, but many of his business ventures failed because family demands interfered.
He noted that family members, especially in African households, often feel entitled to money earned, even when the intention is to save and secure a better future.

He added that this strict approach is necessary for building savings and achieving long-term financial freedom.
He said, “If you know you want to come out of poverty, you need to be financially heartless even to your direct family. This is not about being wicked, it is about breaking out of the poverty cycle. Growing up, I always wanted to be financially stable, but many of my business attempts failed because of family.
“African families, and even your own family, can be very entitled to your wealth, even when you are working to save money and build a better future. It is very okay to be financially heartless even to your friends and family so you can save up and break that circle. They will hate you for it, but trust me, it is for your own good.”
