1.     Nwankwo Kanu

Nwankwo Kanu is one of Nigeria’s most iconic footballers and he is widely regarded as one of the greatest African footballers of all time.

Born in Owerri, Imo State, Kanu began his career at Iwuanyanwu Nationale before moving to Dutch side Ajax in 1993. He went on to play for Inter Milan, Arsenal, and Portsmouth, among other clubs. Kanu won the UEFA Champions League with Ajax in 1995 and was part of the Arsenal team that won two Premier League titles and two FA Cups. He also won the African Player of the Year award twice and played for Nigeria at three World Cups.

2.     Austin Jay-Jay Okocha

Augustine Okocha, popularly known as Jay-Jay Okocha, is another Nigerian football legend. He was known for his amazing dribbling skills and his ability to score spectacular goals.

Okocha began his career at Enugu Rangers before moving to clubs in Germany, Turkey, France, and England. He played for Paris Saint-Germain, Bolton Wanderers, and Hull City, among other clubs. Okocha won the African Cup of Nations with Nigeria in 1994 and 2010 and played in three World Cups.

3.     Segun Odegbami

Segun Odegbami is one of Nigeria’s most iconic footballers, and he is widely regarded as one of the greatest African footballers of all time. He was part of the Nigeria team that won the African Cup of Nations in 1980 and played in the World Cup in 1980. Odegbami was known for his speed and his ability to score goals.

4.     Rashidi Yekini

Rashidi Yekini is another Nigerian football legend. He is best known for his performance at the 1994 World Cup, where he scored Nigeria’s first-ever goal in the tournament.

Yekini began his career at the Shooting Stars football club of Ibadan before moving to Portugal, Spain, and Greece. He played for Vitoria Setubal, Sporting Gijon, and Olympiacos, among other clubs. Yekini was the top scorer in the African Cup of Nations in 1992 and was named African Footballer of the Year in 1993.

5.     Finidi George

Finidi George is one of Nigeria’s most iconic footballers, and he is best known for his performance at the 1994 World Cup, where he helped Nigeria reach the round of 16. George began his career at Calabar Rovers before moving to Dutch side Ajax where he won the UEFA Champions League in 1995. He went on to play for Real Betis, Ipswich Town, and Mallorca, among other clubs.

6.     Daniel Amokachi

Daniel ‘The Bull’ Amokachi is another Nigerian football legend. He was part of the Nigeria team that won the African Cup of Nations in 1994 and played in the World Cup in 1994 and 1998. Amokachi began his career at Ranchers Bees of Kaduna before moving to Club Brugge where he won the Belgian league in 1990. He went on to play for Everton, Besiktas, and Colorado Rapids, among other clubs.

7.     Muda Lawal

Muda Lawal was a Nigerian football legend who played for Nigeria’s national team, the Super Eagles, for over a decade. He was known for his incredible work rate, his passing ability, and his ability to score crucial goals. Lawal was part of the Nigeria team that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1980.

8.     Sunday Oliseh

Sunday Oliseh is a former Nigerian footballer who played as a central midfielder. He was born on September 14, 1974, in Aba, Nigeria. Oliseh was known for his tough-tackling style of play and his ability to read the game.

The athletic midfielder played for several top clubs during his long career including; Ajax, Juventus, and Borussia Dortmund. Oliseh was also a key member of the Nigerian national team, helping the Super Eagles to win the African Cup of Nations in 1994. He also participated in the Olympics helping Nigeria to win the gold medal in 1996. Oliseh also represented Nigeria at two world cups in 1994 and 1998.

9.     Vincent Enyeama

Vincent Enyeama is widely regarded as one of the best African goalkeepers of all time. He played for several top European clubs, including Hapoel Tel Aviv of Isreal and Lille in France. Enyeama also had a successful career with the Nigerian national team helping the team to win the African Cup of Nations in 2013.

10.       Emmanuel Amunike

Emmanuel Amunike was a talented winger who played for several top European clubs including; Sporting CP and Barcelona. He was a key player for the Nigerian national team, helping the Super Eagles to win the African Cup of Nations in 1994 and the Olympic gold medal in 1996.

It is also worth mentioning some other players who narrowly missed out on this list, like the great Stephen Keshi, and the likes of John Obi-Mikel, Christian Chukwu, Tijani Babangida and many more.
