Top Five Nigerian players in Europe


Across various leagues in Europe, Nigerian football players have been nothing short of excellent. Over the weekend, we enjoyed amazing performances from some of these players. In no particular order here are five Nigerian players in Europe who are outstanding.

Victor Osimhen

After staying on the sidelines for a month, Osimhen brought the heat with him on his re-entry. So far he has scored in four consecutive matches for Napoli.  In a match with Sassuolo, Napoli won with a whopping 4-0 victory, with osimhen scoring 3 of the goals. Not only that, he also scored his first hat trick since joining Napoli. The club manager described him as having ” flashes that are not accessible to a normal player”.

Ademola Lookman

Ademola has made quite a statement in the Italian league. In the match between Atlanta and Empoli, Lookman scored the opening goal, and created the other goal as Atlanta won 2-0  the weekend. He has scored 5 solid goals during the ongoing season.

Nonso Madueke

Nonso Madueke opened the season with a banger. Playing for  PSV as the team thrashed NEC Nijmegen 3-0 with Madueke netting the last goal at the blast of the final whistle. This is his fourth appearance since recovering from an ankle injury, and he is off to a good start.

Peter Olayinka

Olayinka prompted Slavia Prague to a  4-1 victory against Bohemians. During the course of the entire 90 minutes of the encounter, he scored two goals and had two close shots. He is one left winger to look out for. 

Saviour Godwin

The Super Eagles winger scored the winning goal for Casa Pia against Rio Ave in a 1-0 league victory. Godwin’s goal ensured Casa Pia took home all three points.
