Troops of Operation MESA under the 3 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have rescued seven people abducted during a bandit raid on Yankamaye Cikin Gari in Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
The Army confirmed the development in a statement issued on Sunday by the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations for the 3 Brigade, Capt. Babatunde Zubairu.
According to the statement, the attack occurred on November 29 at about 11 p.m. Zubairu said the troops were alerted after “a large number of bandits on foot” invaded the village, abducting 10 residents and killing a 60-year-old woman.

He explained that a combined team of soldiers and police officers immediately responded to the distress call and moved towards the attackers’ escape route in the Rimaye axis. The troops later confronted the bandits with sustained firepower and “successfully rescued seven of the abducted victims.”
“The bandits fled towards Kankia Local Government Area in Katsina State. Efforts are ongoing to track their location,” he said.
Zubairu also noted that the Commander of the 3 Brigade had commended the personnel involved for their swift action, courage, and professionalism.
He encouraged residents to continue supporting security operations by sharing reliable and timely information with authorities.
