Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has expressed confidence in Nigeria’s economic direction under President Bola Tinubu.
Uzodinma in a statement posted on his X page on Friday said recent reforms are beginning to deliver measurable outcomes for both federal and state governments.
Speaking at the 15th edition of the Chief Emeka Anyaoku Lecture Series in Owerri, he described the gathering as more than a ceremonial event, noting that it has evolved into an important platform for national reflection and accountability.
The lecture, held in honour of former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku, focused this year on the theme “Imperative of Good Governance in Nigeria.”

Uzodimma said hosting the landmark 15th edition in Owerri offered a timely opportunity to reflect on Nigeria’s leadership and governance trajectory.
He praised the series for consistently shaping public discourse and challenging established ideas around governance.
The governor pointed to what he described as “verifiable indices” of progress under the current administration.

According to him, key economic indicators suggest the country is gradually stabilising and regaining momentum.
He highlighted improvements in GDP growth, a steady rise in foreign reserves, and renewed foreign direct investment inflows—developments he said reflect growing investor confidence in Nigeria’s economy.
Uzodimma added that these gains at the federal level are beginning to ease pressure on state governments, creating more fiscal space to address local development priorities.
Linking Imo State’s progress to federal policy direction, the governor said the state had benefited from the broader economic environment shaped by the Tinubu administration’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.
He urged Nigerians to remain patient and supportive, stressing that reforms of this scale require time to fully take effect.

“Our great nation is on a path of growth,” he said, reaffirming support for the President’s leadership and reform agenda.
Uzodimma also commended the organisers of the lecture series for sustaining a platform that continues to encourage thoughtful dialogue, noting that such engagements are essential for building a more accountable and forward-looking nation.
