Uzodimma bags ‘Governor of the Year’ award, dedicates win to Imo people

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has been honoured with the prestigious Governor of the Year 2025 award, a recognition he described as a testament to the “bold statements” his administration is making in infrastructure and economic reforms.

The governor in a statement posted on his X page on Friday said the decoration took place during the 18th Edition of the Leadership Annual Conference and Awards held at the newly minted Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (BATICC) in the nation’s capital.

Addressing the audience after receiving the plaque, Uzodimma was quick to deflect the personal glory, insisting that the award belongs to the citizens of Imo State.

He noted that the recognition serves as a fuel for his “Transformation Agenda,” which has seen a massive facelift in state infrastructure and deliberate policy shifts aimed at improving the lives of his constituents.

“I see it not merely as a commendation, but as an encouragement to continue delivering quality services and purposeful governance to our dear State,” the governor remarked.

The governor also extended warm congratulations to the First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, who was named ‘Person of the Year’ at the same event.

Uzodimma praised her for redefining her office through impactful stewardship and nation-building efforts.

Reaffirming his loyalty to the federal government’s direction, Uzodimma stated that as “Renewed Hope Ambassadors,” he and his colleagues remain committed to the transformation witnessed under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.

The event served as a gathering of Nigeria’s political and business elite, emphasising excellence and accountability in governance.

Uzodimma was honoured alongside five other state governors, whom he urged to continue advancing “progressive services” across their respective domains.

The ceremony was one of the major high-profile events held at the BATICC, highlighting Abuja’s growing capacity for international-standard summits.

The governor commended Leadership Newspapers for their consistency in promoting quality governance and holding public officers to high standards.

With this latest feather in his cap, Uzodimma has signalled that the 2025-2026 period will focus on sustaining the “measurable impacts” of his economic reforms.

Residents of Imo State can expect an intensified focus on completing ongoing infrastructure projects as the administration seeks to justify its “Governor of the Year” status.
