The Super Falcons had fallen behind 2-0 early in the game but roared back thanks to goals from Esther Okoronkwo, Folasade Ijamilusi, and a late strike from Jennifer Echegini. With the comeback, Nigeria sealed their 10th WAFCON title, extending their record as the most successful team in the competition’s history.
Osinbajo concluded: “Three goals. One comeback written with resolve. And a trophy that now tells its own story in green white green.”
Nigeria’s victory also came with individual accolades, including Player of the Tournament for Rasheedat Ajibade and Best Goalkeeper award for new Brighton recruit Chiamaka Nnadozie.
