Afrobeats star Davido has admitted that Nigerian entertainers, including himself, have not done enough to address the growing insecurity and injustice affecting the country.
The award-winning singer made the statement in a series of posts on X on Saturday, where he urged celebrities and other influential figures to use their platforms to speak on issues affecting Nigerians.
“I can’t lie, we entertainers… we dey fuck up, I won’t lie, including me. We need to speak up. It’s too much injustice going on. Our country don go,” he wrote.
Davido acknowledged that public figures often face criticism regardless of whether they choose to speak out or remain silent. However, he maintained that people should act according to their conscience.

“Talk, dem go abuse you. No talk, dem go still abuse you. Do wetin your heart tell you. No reason am. Still on still pray for Nigeria,” he added.

The singer also expressed sadness over the current state of the nation and sympathised with victims of recent tragic events and their families.
“I’m weak. God please take control. We can’t continue like this. My heart goes out to the victims and family. This is messed up,” he wrote.
His comments came amid public outrage following the abduction of pupils and teachers from schools in Oyo State. The incident reportedly resulted in the deaths of two teachers who were allegedly killed by their captors.
Earlier in the week, Nigerian rapper and activist Falz joined civil society groups in calling for demonstrations over the kidnapping of the schoolchildren, adding to growing demands for stronger action against insecurity across the country.
