Veekee James, the celebrity fashion designer, was dragged on the internet recently. She said God inspired the white wedding dress she made for Priscilla Mkambala. No doubt, Veekee James is talented, but associating God with a fashion look that exposes a sheer amount of cleavage is not to be reckoned with.
The dress is ethereal, timeless, and the video production is giving a 10/10 setting, a spiritual atmosphere. Oh, I thank God for Vekee’s creativity, Priscilla, and her team but I definitely do not thank God for inspiring that dress because He did not.

Creativity and talent come from God, and one can constantly decide to use God’s inspiration to channel that talent into creating masterpieces. There is a certain buzz anything associated wth God gets these days on the internet. The fact that you are a Christian does not mean that God or the Holy Spirit inspired everything you do.

As Christians, we should be mindful of how we portray God
Anything you do that you want to associate with God must speak of holiness, modesty, and everything righteous. The fact that you make a white dress does not mean it is holy and righteous. As Christians, we should be careful of the picture we paint to people about our walk with God.
God has not changed. His manner and ways have not. Believers try to compromise their ways and tailor them to fit their lifestyle. This paints a picture of Christianity as a practice that you can do as you like.
Vekee James, who calls herself the daughter of Zion, is extremely talented and creative, but cannot keep wearing dresses that preach immodesty to God. David was a man after God’s heart. God even lauded his walk with Him, but still David sinned. Those sins in no way were associated with God. A man like David, the world has not seen yet, yet he sinned against God, whom he wrote the book of Psalms of 150 chapters for.
The Holiness of God does not abide to the rules of ” Opon Apanla Ti Sun”
A talent given by God can easily be hijacked by the devil. The plots of the devil thrive in deceit and pretence. When something is not right, trying to prove it is right is a greater problem than the wrong act. This is not a chastisement for Veekee James but for all of us to not conform to the ways of this world, even though we are in it. It is not so hard for the good ones to get corrupted.
Let us not be lukewarm in Christianity. As Christians, if we want to associate our work with God, we must make sure it preaches the real tenets of who God is. It is normal for Christians to walk in the flesh and not in the spirit of God, and at that point, the Holy Spirit chastises us to do the right thing. The ways of God do not apply to the rules of Haruna Ishola in his song Opon Apala Ti Sun, that we should conform our ways to the dynamics of this world.
Men can compromise on holiness because we are mortals who can be controlled by the flesh. For God, his holiness is the Constant (k) in the equation; ours is a variable which is determined by the Grace of God.
God is merciful and slow to anger and does not strike offenders on sight. Let us be mindful of the things we acknowledge him for. Do not let us be overly spiritual that we muddle His affairs with the world. Most of us are perpetual offenders of this, and may God help us all.
