Reekado Banks has shared new insights into his former clash with fellow Nigerian music star Wizkid, stating that the Essence singer has since shown remorse over their public spat during the #EndSARS protests in 2020.

The disagreement between the two artists began in October 2020 when Reekado Banks announced the release of their joint track Omo Olomo, just as Nigerians were actively protesting police brutality. Wizkid, who had put all musical promotions on hold in solidarity with the movement, publicly lashed out at Reekado in a tweet that has since been deleted, calling him a “fool” and a “clout animal.” The outburst left fans surprised and disappointed.

During a recent appearance on The Esther Show, Reekado addressed the incident and disclosed that he wasn’t in support of the song’s release at that moment but was overruled by his management team.

“Truthfully, I didn’t want the song to come out at that moment,” Reekado said. “It was my management that insisted we go ahead. I understood the climate of the country at the time and I didn’t think it was appropriate.”

According to him, the misunderstanding between them has since been resolved. Reekado revealed that Wizkid recently paid a visit to his restaurant and used the opportunity to express regret for his past reaction.

“Recently he [Wizkid] came visiting my restaurant. We had a little talk and he was a little regretful about it,” Reekado said. “He admitted he shouldn’t have responded the way he did. He even referenced his behavior towards Don Jazzy and expressed remorse.”

Reekado also touched on the emotional bond they now share, having all lost their mothers recently—himself, Wizkid, and Don Jazzy—adding that the shared grief has helped mend old wounds and foster a sense of solidarity.

“He said we are three people in the game who recently lost our moms, and he feels sorry about how everything played out back then,” Reekado added. “So, we are good now.”
