The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has outlined a 10-point agenda aimed at strengthening the party and positioning it to drive national development.

In a statement posted on his X page on Monday, Yilwatda emphasised that the APC, which he described as Africa’s largest political party, must be guided by integrity, humility and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians.

According to him, the party’s ability to maintain internal cohesion will play a critical role in ensuring stability and progress across the country.

He noted that building a united and forward-looking APC remained essential to achieving broader national goals.

A key element of Yilwatda’s agenda is expanding opportunities for young people within the party and the political system.

He described Nigerian youths not merely as future leaders but as partners who should actively shape governance today.

The APC chairman also highlighted the importance of inclusiveness within the party, noting that its strength lies in its diversity.

He said the party plans to open its doors to fresh ideas and wider participation to build what he described as a stronger political family.

Yilwatda said Nigeria’s ethnic, cultural and religious diversity should be viewed as a source of strength, urging dialogue, understanding and mutual respect among citizens.

Yilwatda also emphasised the importance of strong institutions and transparent processes, arguing that democracy can only thrive when members feel heard and party structures operate fairly.

He pledged that under his leadership the APC would prioritise stronger internal democracy, ensuring that party members at all levels have a voice.

He also promised continuous reform, including modernising party structures to support progressive policies and responsible governance, with public service focused on delivering measurable benefits to citizens.

He said Nigeria possessed immense potential and resilience, adding that unity, discipline and a shared sense of purpose would be vital in unlocking the country’s opportunities.

Among the guiding principles he outlined for his tenure were a commitment to leadership as service, which places the interests and aspirations of Nigerians above political advantage.

He also emphasised the need to build bridges by encouraging cooperation across generations, regions and faiths.

In addition, he highlighted the importance of promoting stability by strengthening the party internally to support a stable democratic system at the national level.

Yilwatda stated that a more cohesive and inclusive APC would be better positioned to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s development and democratic consolidation.
