Google expands the AI summary capability to YouTube by providing video previews for chosen YouTube Premium members in the United States who search using English queries.
The LLM algorithm generates search results in text form for Google while YouTube shows AI-generated video highlight clips for specific videos.
Google stated through YouTube Community forum posts that “The new feature applies machine learning to select video clips which will direct users towards the most appropriate content matching their search terms.”
The tool should activate during searches about choosing between products like “best noise cancelling headphones” or exploring destination possibilities such as “museums to visit in San Francisco.”
