A fiery Spanish derby took a dramatic turn when Zaragoza goalkeeper Esteban Andrada punched an opponent after being sent off. The incident has sparked outrage and could lead to a lengthy suspension.
The Argentine had already received a second yellow card for pushing a player late in the match. However, tensions escalated as he ran toward Jorge Pulido and struck him.
That moment triggered a chaotic brawl involving multiple players from both sides. Consequently, two more players were dismissed as tempers boiled over completely.
Andrada later admitted fault, saying: “The truth is I’m very, very sorry for what happened.” He acknowledged the seriousness of his actions and accepted potential punishment.
Zaragoza also condemned the incident, stating: “We witnessed scenes unbecoming of this sport.”
Derby drama overshadows relegation battle
The match itself carried major consequences, with both teams fighting relegation. Yet, the violence overshadowed the result and shifted attention away from the football.
Andrada added: “It’s not a good image for the club… or for a professional like myself.” He also apologised directly to Pulido, calling the incident a lapse in focus.

Meanwhile, Huesca’s coach described the situation bluntly. He said: “It’s a complete loss of control… but it’s unjustifiable.”
Zaragoza boss David Navarro reinforced that stance, admitting: “There are lines we can’t cross.”
Despite the chaos, Huesca secured a narrow 1-0 victory. However, both teams remain stuck in the relegation zone with little margin for error.
With disciplinary action pending, Andrada’s moment of madness could define Zaragoza’s season for all the wrong reasons.
