Five [5] things you should do in 2023

As the world is celebrating the new year, five things should be put in place to prioritize turning the 2023 into a successful and breakthrough year filled up with achievements to accomplished the out with the old, in with the new.Ā

The world welcomed 2023 with firework displays, concerts, and parties, starting from the Pacific nation of Kiribati as the first to see the new year, while the US state of Hawaii was among the last to mark the beginning of 2023.

In Nigeria and other religious countries, new year is always welcomed in at a place of worship where the people gathered to pray as well as receive the blessing of their prophets, Alfa’s, for the year.

ā€œI declare that evils in 2022 shall surely perish and it will not prolong it days into 2023. I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life, success, blessing, and gloryā€, the pastor and Alfa declared with the congregation claiming it with a louder ”Amen “.

Claiming the blessing with a louder “Amen” doesn’t guarantee success without taking necessary steps to have a productive year.

In this article, NRTC highlighted some basic things people should do in the new year to reach their dream promise of land.

  1. Digital skills

Aren’t you tired of “can I send my Aza(Account number)”,  “I need an urgent 2k” or “who will subscribe for me” in the new year? If you are not ashamed of yourself, you should have some pity for those people you have been billing for years, they are human with blood running in their veins. They have families to cater for as well, please, fear God.

Sisters, weren’t you tired of depending on “relationships” before you survived?  Do you still want to continue with “I must date a Yahoo guy” this new year. Your mates were independent and made cool money last year?

Listen, “Mr. it’s only sugar mummy” digital skills can be your sugar mummy. I mean those skills you need to be independent in the new year you claimed to be “my year of breakthrough”. Digital skills avail you to use digital devices, communication applications, and networks to access and manage information,ā€ from basic online searching and emailing to specialist programming and development.

At their core, these skills will help you make money by communicating with people, collaborate, develop and share digital content, and problem-solve in a work-anywhere world.

The simple eight skills to learn and become financially free include but are not limited to social media,  search engine marketing (SEM), data analytics, content marketing, email marketing,  social selling, video,  research, and online resources.

  1. Volunteering

Another thing to do this year is to offer yourself to take part in an enterprise or undertake a task. As a student or individual, the most valuable thing you can give yourself and the community is the gift of volunteering.

Volunteering will reward you as wellā€”in ways you might not have considered, which includes Making new friends,  building your network, expanding your resume, improving your confidence, developing emotional stability, exploring your interests, learning something new, and feeling happier.

  1. Read books

“Every time we learn something new our brain forms new connections and neurons and makes existing neural pathways stronger or weaker,” Naidoo says.  So, this year you must read books on topics you want to learn more about or are interested in.

Reading will consistently strengthen connections in your brain, improve memory and concentration, and may help you live longer as well as reduce stress levels and prevent age-related cognitive decline.

Therefore, keep a book with you when traveling or commuting to work to read more, and set aside time every day to pick up a book, whether it’s during your commute or before bed.

  1. Mental health

In 2022, many deaths were recorded to which mental health contributed majorly. Therefore, no matter what life throws at you this new year, ensure you are in good physical health, eating a balanced diet, and getting regular exercise.

In 2023, your mental health which includes emotion, psychology, and social well-being must be your major preference.

Therefore, taking your mental health seriously this year will help determine how you handle stress, relate to others, make healthy choices, have good relationships, make meaningful contributions to your community, work productively and realize your full potential.

  1. New year resolution

Every new year offers a blank slate to get things right with the opportunity of setting a resolution something human beings will constantly be working toward.

Did you achieve all your resolutions last year? Then you need to resolve to continue good practices, change an undesired trait or behavior, and accomplish a personal goal.

In this new year, be realistic about your resolution, plan ahead, outline your plan,  make a ā€œPros’ ‘ and ā€œCons’ ‘ list, talk About it,  reward yourself, track your progress, and don’t beat yourself up.
