It’s another edition of NRTC WEEKLY Roundup —in this week’s edition, we are focusing on five trending stories across the country.

Leading stories: Bobrisky 

NRTC WEEKLY gathered that the six months sentence of popular crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, aka Bobrisky sparked reactions. 

Embattled Nigerian transvestite

Some celebrate the jail time, seeing it as a punishment for flaunting wealth and a lifestyle deemed inappropriate but many believed the sentence without the option of fine was not good enough.

NRTC WEEKLY confirmed that Nigerians maintained that there are many Nigerians, especially politicians who are Naira abusers that needed to be arrested.

Others criticize the law used (abusing national currency) and believe it’s not a serious offence.  

Many find the sentence too lenient, while some express concern it might stifle individual expression. 

The situation has reignited debates about social norms, freedom, and the justice system in Nigeria. 

Politics: Ondo APC primary

All is set for the primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State ahead of the gubernatorial election.

NRTC WEEKLY gathered that the screening of aspirants has commenced, with the primary scheduled for April 20th.

Among the aspirants are Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Olusola Oke, Jimoh Ibrahim, Wale Akinterinwa, and others.

Sport: EPL title

The EPL title race is a nerve-wracking rollercoaster for fans! Arsenal supporters are buzzing, finally leading the pack.

NRTC WEEKLY gathered that City fans remain confident in their experience, but a hint of worry creeps in. Liverpool supporters are loud, urging their team on, hoping to close the gap.

Metro: Jnr Pope

A wave of grief swept through Nigeria following the news of Jnr Pope’s passing. Many expressed disbelief at the sudden loss of the 39-year-old actor.

Tributes poured in, highlighting his dedication to his craft and his roles as a husband and father.  Colleagues praised his transparency and collaborative approach, while fans remembered him for his portrayals in films like “Mad Sex” and “The Generals.” 

The tragedy also sparked discussions around safety measures in Nollywood productions, particularly after reports emerged of the boat accident that claimed his life. 

He died after the boat carrying him and other actors capsized on their way from a movie set.
