Fans expressed their frustration, especially following Burna Boy’s Grammy loss in February. Despite this setback, some netizens maintained that Nigerian artistes still reign supreme.

There were contrasting views as some defended the artists’ talent while others voiced frustration over the perceived lack of global recognition for Nigerian music.

Despite the disappointment, Rema’s captivating performance at the ceremony was seen as a silver lining, showcasing the increasing influence of Afrobeats on the international stage.

Leading stories: Economic hardship

Just a year into President Bola Tinubu’s tenure, Nigerians felt the harsh impact of economic hardship, affecting their ability to afford food, and impacting health, and safety.

NRTC WEEKLY learned about an increase in poverty and hunger amid economic struggles, rising unemployment, and shrinking incomes. This exacerbates poverty, forcing families to skip meals or opt for cheaper, less nutritious options.

Moreover, economic hardship strains the healthcare system, making it challenging for the government to provide adequate public healthcare. Affording doctor visits, medications, and other essentials becomes difficult for Nigerians.

Additionally, economic hardship fosters desperation, potentially leading to a surge in crime rates as individuals resort to theft or scams for survival.
