How to Set Custom Sounds to Individual Contacts in WhatsApp
Like in any other app, Whatsapp allows users to assign particular notification sounds to contacts. In Android, the chat must be opened by tapping the name of the contact dialogue box.
In the chat info, scroll down and select the “Notifications” option.
When the Notifications window is open, click on the āNotification Toneā and then you will find the list of ringtones in your device and select the most preferred custom sound for it.
There are other options available in this window, such as muting notifications for this specific chat, turning the vibration on or off, and customizing the ringtone for calls.

If you’re an iPhone user, simply tap the contact’s name at the top to access their info. Then go to Notification > Alert Tone, pick a sound from the available options, and tap “Save.”
As it, whenever a message from that contact is received, what you have chosen will be heard. Please, do not forget that you can apply this algorithm as many times as many contacts you have.
Another thing you might have not found on the Android version is that you are allowed to set custom ringtones for contacts. But in the iPhone, for instance, is only possible to program different ringtones for text message alerts as is not possible for call alerts.
On iPhone, you can’t assign custom MP3s as WhatsApp notification tones, only options within WhatsApp or iPhone ringtones.
On Android, you can choose a notification tone directly from the file manager, music folder, or recording directory.
