“We are here to support you. It is truly heartbreaking, but I pray that this land will flourish and prosper once again,ā€ she remarked.

Responding to a request from the Shehu of Borno, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr) Abubakar Ibn El-kanemi, for assistance to help women in the state recover, Mrs Tinubu announced that the RHI would provide support to 5,000 women petty traders affected by the floods in Maiduguri, allocating N250 million for this purpose.

ā€œAfter His Royal Majestyā€™s words, I and HE Hajia Shettima discussed it on our way here and agreed that the Initiative will give N50,000 each to 5,000 women petty traders to support their businesses.ā€

She said the incident which left some residents dead and many homeless was disturbing and would require the support of all Nigerians to fast-track track recovery of the victims.

Meanwhile, the Zulum thanked the First Lady and the RHI, for her contributions and support since the unfortunate flooding.

ā€œI thank Your Excellency for the initial donation which was made through the wife of the Vice President. These food items and other items and your visit are further evidence that you are truly a mother to the whole nationā€.

Mrs Tinubu later engaged with a diverse group of victims at the Borno State Government House, where she distributed relief materials, including substantial quantities of food and sanitary items.
