JUST IN: Tinubu scraps ministries of Niger Delta, sports

President Bola Tinubu has announced the dissolution of the Ministries of Niger Delta Development and Sports.

In a statement shared via his X page, Tinubu’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, revealed that the President made the decision public during Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

The statement read: ā€œPresident Tinubu and Federal Executive Council scrap Niger Delta Ministry and the Ministry of sports development.

ā€œThere will now be a ministry of regional development to oversee all the regional development commissions, such as Niger Delta Development Commission, North West Development Commission, South West Development Commission, North East Development Commission.

“The President further announced that the National Sports Commission will now assume the responsibilities previously managed by the Ministry of Sports Development.

In addition, the President approved the consolidation of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy, forming a unified body.
