67th Grammy Award: Burna Boy, Asake, others bag other nominations

The nomination list for the 67th Grammy award ceremony has been announced.

Nigerian music superstars such as Burna Boy, Asake and Rema have appeared on the nomination list for the 67th edition of the Grammy ceremony.

American artist Chris Brown, who is the only non-Nigerian artist in the category, made the cut with a song featuring two Nigerians, Davido and Lojay.

The nominations were announced by the organisers on Friday, November 8.

The nominees for the Best African Music Performance category are ā€˜Tomorrowā€™ by Yemi Alade, ā€˜MMSā€™ by Asake featuring Wizkid, ā€˜Sensationalā€™ by Chris Brown featuring Davido and Lojay, ā€˜Higherā€™ by Burna Boy, and ā€˜Love Me JeJeā€™ by Tems.

News Round The Clock (NRTC) recalls that ā€˜Waterā€™ by South African singer, Tyla, won the maiden award for the Best African Music Performance recognition at the 66th Grammys.

Meanwhile, the duo of Nigerian singers Rema and Tems were nominated in the Best Global Music Album category.

Temsā€™ debut album ā€˜Born In The Wildā€™ and Remaā€™s sophomore album, ā€˜HEISā€™ were nominated in the category.

They will compete against Matt B and Royal Philharmonic Orchestraā€™s ā€˜Alkebulan IIā€™, Ciro Hurtadoā€™s ā€˜Paisajesā€™, and Antonio Reyā€™s ā€˜Historias De Un Flamencoā€™.

Tems also bagged a nomination in the Best R&B Song category as her song ā€˜Burningā€™ made the cut.

Only women were nominated in the Best R&B Song category at this yearā€™s Grammys.

Tems will face stiff competition from ā€˜After Hoursā€™ by Kehlani, Coco Jonesā€™ ā€˜Here We Go (Uh Oh)ā€™, Muni Longā€™s ā€˜Ruined Meā€™, and ā€˜Saturnā€™ by SZA.
