As we head into a new year, consumers and businesses alike will be on the lookout for new and innovative laptop models. While some brands have been dominating the laptop market for years, 2024 may see new challengers emerge and existing players take their product lines in exciting new directions. Here are 10 major laptop manufacturers worth watching in the coming year:

1. Apple

Apple remains the leader in premium laptops with their MacBook line. In 2024, we expect Apple to launch new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models with the latest M2 and possible M3 chips for even stronger performance. Apple is also rumored to be working on new form factors like a folding MacBook.

2. Lenovo

As the largest PC maker in the world, Lenovo holds a major stake in all segments from consumer to commercial. 2024 could see Lenovo focus on advancing its ThinkPad and IdeaPad lines with OLED display options and innovative designs. The company has also hinted at expanding its gaming laptop offerings under the Legion brand.

3. HP

HP commands a huge share of the consumer and education markets. Next year, HP will aim to strengthen its Spectre, Envy, and Pavilion laptop lines with design overhauls, longer battery life, and powerful internals. The company’s premium Spectre series in particular could see a revamp to better compete with MacBooks and Dell XPS laptops.

4. Dell

5. ASUS

ASUS is a major player in the gaming, creator, and mainstream consumer spaces. In 2024, the company will likely expand its ROG Zephyrus, ROG Strix, and TUF Gaming laptop lines. But ASUS’ more affordable Vivobook and Chromebook Flip lines could see the most exciting upgrades with new Intel and AMD processors bringing better performance at lower price points.

6. Acer

Another major gaming laptop brand, Acer will focus on advancing its Predator Triton and Nitro lineups. But the company’s commercial-focused TravelMate and Swift notebooks may receive sleeker designs and improved specifications to better compete against Dell and Lenovo. More affordable consumer Acer Aspire and Chromebook models will also remain top sellers.

7. Samsung

While not a leader yet, Samsung has big ambitions in the laptop market. In 2024, its Galaxy Book line powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon processors could see wider availability and a bigger push into mobile-first designs. Samsung will aim to position the Galaxy Book as a true MacBook competitor for creative professionals and students.

8. Microsoft

After the successful Surface Laptop, Microsoft will expand its in-house lineup with a focus on hybrid laptop-tablet devices. The Surface Pro and Surface Book could receive Intel Arc graphics options and thinner bezels. A rumored dual-screen Surface Laptop Go may also debut as an affordable entry.

9. LG

LG has dabbled in laptops for years but remains a relatively small player. That may change in 2024 if LG brings its Gram laptops with ultra-light designs and long battery life to more global markets. The company could also introduce new form factors and specifications at competitive prices to truly challenge the major brands.

10. Huawei

Despite US sanctions, Huawei continues innovating in China and other regions. Powered by in-house Kirin processors, Huawei’s MateBook line may receive 5G support and even foldable screen options in 2024. The company also aims to strengthen its presence in education and commercial segments internationally.

So in summary, 2024 promises new breakthroughs and innovations from major laptop brands as they battle for a larger share of the highly competitive personal computer market. Consumers will have many exciting new options across all price points and use cases to choose from.
