The year 2020 would probably go down in history as one of the most polarizing moments in the history of the modern world. The death of basketball legend, Kobe Bryant and his daughter left a massive hole the hearts of the members of his family and also lovers of the sports across the globe.

2020 was a strange year, however, it was quintessential in creating a mental and psychological shift in human dealings. It was a phase people know they needed, but, it was a necessity.

In the latter part of 2020, the concluding weeks of September 2020 to be precise, there was going to be a transformation in the country, Nigeria through the #EndSARS protest. An awakening was about to emerge in the most populated black nation until the nefarious incident that happened at Lekki Tollgate on Tuesday, October 20.

Three years after the Lekki protest, Nigerians witnessed how the ruling party, All Progressive Congress (APC) used brutal methodology to win the 2023 presidential election. Through vicious means, videos of bullying, intimidation and violence, APC denied the people the opportunity to experience new rulership and commencement of a new political system in Nigeria. The denial of the opportunity to see a progressive nation was taken away from the people just the same way they did during the protest back in 2020.

In conclusion, while the rest of the world has since moved on since 2020, the Nigerian government has found a way to drag the nation back into the abyss. The cost of living has become more tedious and unbearable for the common people as the government officials gallivant in their fleet of vehicles as they always do.

Itā€™s onerous watching the government officials cruise away from everything without any sense of responsibility. One day, the people will confront the government officials and them down to their knees.
