The contest for the 11th National Assembly has gained momentum, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) launching the sale of nomination forms and attracting a wave of high-profile aspirants, even as internal disagreements persist within the party.
At the forefront is Gbenga Daniel, who represents Ogun East. He picked up his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms, signalling his intention to seek a second term despite recent tensions within the Ogun State chapter of the party.
Daniel’s move came shortly after a controversial episode in Ijebu-Ode, where he was reportedly denied entry to an APC caucus meeting.
Speaking to supporters gathered outside the venue, the former governor rejected the legitimacy of the meeting, insisting that any decision made in his absence would not be binding.
Unfazed by the disagreement and ongoing efforts within the party to adopt consensus candidates, Daniel later confirmed his bid on his X page, reiterating his commitment to representing Ogun East.
