The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced a shift in its method for selecting its governorship candidate in Ekiti State, adopting the consensus mode for the 2026 primary election.
The decision to move away from the initially scheduled direct primary was prompted by the voluntary withdrawal of one of the two cleared aspirants, Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo.
In a letter to the party, Omolayo stated her decision to step down from the contest and endorsed the incumbent, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, as the consensus candidate.
She also expressed her support for any arrangement the party adopted to nominate its flagbearer, in line with the Electoral Act, 2022, and the APC Constitution.
