Vice President Kashim Shettima has dismissed recent reports claiming he was prevented from entering the Presidential Villa in Aso Rock.
The rumours, which surfaced on Friday, suggested that a group of security officers had blocked Shettima’s access and that he was instructed to stay at home until President Bola Tinubu returned from his overseas trip.
In a response issued on Saturday, Shettima’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha, called the reports false and intended to cause confusion within the government.

He described these allegations as “deliberate fabrications” meant to spread misinformation and create a rift between the President and Vice President.
Nkwocha emphasized that there was no truth to the claim that Shettima had been barred from the Presidential Villa.
He referred to the report as a “wild” and unfounded story, stressing that the authors of these rumors were misinformed about the workings of the Nigerian government.
He also reminded the public of previous fake news concerning campaign posters bearing the images of President Tinubu.
The statement condemned the ongoing efforts to undermine the administration, reassuring the public of the strong and supportive relationship between the President and Vice President.
Nkwocha stated that Shettima remains committed to his duties and will not engage in distractions caused by such baseless claims.
The Presidency also urged Nigerians and the media to avoid sensational stories and continue to rely on trustworthy sources for information.
