The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar, has stressed that a resilient “will to fight” is as crucial to military success as advanced equipment and personnel welfare.

He made this statement at the Third Quarter 2025 Defence Headquarters and Services Transformation Seminar held at the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Headquarters.

Abubakar described the seminar as a key event in developing strategies for operational readiness.

He noted that NAF personnel are deployed across all six geopolitical zones in Nigeria, actively working with other security agencies to restore peace and order.

He quoted General Erwin Rommel, saying, “The best form of welfare for troops is first-class training”, to underscore the importance of intangible qualities like loyalty, trust, and unit cohesion.

The CAS detailed several NAF initiatives aimed at boosting morale and self-reliance.

He mentioned the revitalisation of the Nigerian Air Force Surveillance Aircraft (NAFSA) Eagle Project, which aims to drive local innovation in aerospace technology.

Other welfare projects include new housing for personnel, the establishment of the Nigerian Air Force College of Logistics, improved medical facilities, enhanced insurance schemes, and the acquisition of over 70 operational vehicles in the past year.

In his welcome address, the Chief of Transformation and Innovation, Air Vice Marshal A.H. Amesinlola, praised the participants for their commitment and described the seminar as a platform for collaborative problem-solving across different military services.

Abubakar wxpressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his unwavering support of the Armed Forces and urged participants to deliver outcomes that will strengthen the collective will to fight.
