The Ekiti State Chapter of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has issued a stern disclaimer against a group it describes as “fraudulent charlatans” attempting to hijack the organisation’s identity for political gain.
The Publicity Secretary of the chapter, Biodun Akin-Fasae in a statement said the chapter leadership, headed by Jonathan Yemi Alade and Secretary Ronke Okusanya, denied any link to a faction led by one Olayemi Olajuyinmi.
Akin-Fasae characterised the rival group as political opportunists with no fixed address or legitimate standing. He scathes toward the group’s leader, accusing him of parading false credentials to deceive the public.

“These individuals are not recognised by the Afenifere Ekiti State Chapter,” Akin-Fasae stated.”
“They are not in our register, and their claims of leadership are entirely baseless. This is a blatant attempt to exploit the goodwill and reputation of Afenifere for selfish and pecuniary interests.”
Clearing the air on its political leanings, he reaffirmed Afenifere’s total commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Akin-Fasae said the leadership emphasised that the organisation remains a steadfast supporter of the incumbent Governor, Biodun Oyebanji.
He said Afenifere Ekiti has no relationship with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the party allegedly being used by the “impostors.”
Akin-Fasae said the group remains firmly rooted in its original philosophy, which currently aligns with the candidacy and administration of Oyebanji.

He urged residents of the state and the general public to disregard any communications or activities from the Olajuyinmi-led group.
“We will not be swayed by the antics of these political opportunists,” Akin-Fasae said.
“Afenifere will continue to uphold its core values and integrity without compromise.”
