Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has underscored his administration’s commitment to the “engine room” of government and the safety of citizens by commissioning a fleet of emergency, security, and administrative vehicles.

At a ceremony held Friday at the Government House in Akure, the governor distributed 10 ambulances to the health sector, 10 high-grade patrol vans to security agencies, and official cars to newly appointed Permanent Secretaries.

Aiyedatiwa emphasised that effective healthcare transcends mere infrastructure and policy.

He argued that true medical service delivery relies on the swift transportation of patients and access to genuine pharmaceuticals.

“To us, the delivery of medical services goes beyond policy statements and is not just about the building of healthcare centres,” the governor remarked.

He noted that while urban renewal and traffic lights have improved order, the new ambulances are vital for the “prompt evacuation” of victims from accident scenes and homes.

The governor directed that these vehicles be deployed immediately to the Nigeria Police Force and Military (including the Air Force, Civil Defence and Airport Services and the State’s Anti-Land-Grabbing Task Force.

Aiyedatiwa issued a stern warning that these high-grade vehicles must be used “strictly for official duties” to ensure the safety of Ondo residents.

Recognizing civil servants as the backbone of his administration, the governor presented official vehicles to new Permanent Secretaries.

He framed the gesture as part of a broader incentive package—including promotions, bonuses, and vacations—designed to drive peak performance.

The Health Commissioner, Banji Ajaka, revealed that the procurement—the largest of its kind in years—includes: three Advanced Life-Support Ambulances, five Basic Medical Ambulances.

Ajaka added that the state has already budgeted for additional units to further strengthen the emergency response network.

In a boost to the state’s security architecture, ten Toyota Hilux vehicles, donated by Sunbeth Global Concept led by Olasunkanmi Owoeye, were handed over to various agencies.

Head of Service, Bayo Philip, noted that this rollout marks the second phase of vehicle distributions, with almost all eligible officials and recent retirees now covered.

Speaking for the recipients, Yemi Pirisola expressed gratitude to the governor, pledging the continued loyalty of the state’s top administrators to the “Aiyedatiwa mandate” and the welfare of the Ondo people.
