Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has advised the youths ahead of the planned nationwide protest scheduled to commence on August 1 and last for ten days.

Ebenezer Adeniyan, Aiyedatiwa’s Chief Press Secretary, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

Governor Aiyedatiwa assured stakeholders, including students and youths, that President Bola Tinubu’s ongoing reforms will lead to the country’s economic recovery during a meeting.

Addressing representatives of youth groups from the state’s three senatorial districts in Akure, the governor assured the youths that their welfare remains a priority and promised greater inclusion in his administration.

He urged Nigerians to be more patient with the government, emphasising that all indications point to an improved economy that will alleviate people’s challenges.

He said the Tinubu administration had plans to improve living conditions but sought the understanding of Nigerians, saying Rome was not built in a day.

Governor Aiyedatiwa appealed to the sponsors of the nationwide protest to seek a more peaceful option and approach that would promote development, national peace, and political stability.

He said: “Development thrives in a peaceful environment; let us all be united and collectively tackle the prevailing economic hardship confronting the nation.

“We should all avoid a protest that could lead to destruction of lives and property as this might worsen our economic situation. The EndSARS protest that was hijacked by hoodlums is still fresh in our memories.”
