Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface has expressed his excitement at joining Werder Bremen, insisting his focus is on helping the team succeed rather than chasing personal milestones.
The 24-year-old striker completed a season-long loan from Bayer Leverkusen on deadline day and immediately linked up with his new teammates for training on Wednesday.
Boniface arrives at Bremen after a historic season with Leverkusen, where he won both the Bundesliga title and the DFB-Pokal. Despite his individual achievements, the striker made it clear that his ambitions with the Green and Whites are centered on team victories.
“I don’t go into any season with personal goals I want to achieve,” he told the club’s official website.
“I want to be successful with the team and want to win games. And I’d like to do that this season with Werder Bremen.”

The striker also shed light on his transfer, which came shortly after a proposed move to AC Milan failed to materialise.
Boniface revealed that his swift switch to Bremen was driven by confidence in the project laid out by the club’s hierarchy.
“Yes, everything happened very quickly, which made me happy. I had very good discussions with the Werder officials, who immediately gave me a good feeling. I’m very happy to be here,” he explained.
He further acknowledged that the last few weeks had been challenging, but Bremen’s clarity and ambition convinced him to take the leap.
“The people in charge here at Werder presented me with a precise plan, which quickly won me over. I immediately said I wanted to follow this path, and I’m very happy that it worked out well,” Boniface added.
