Veteran Nigerian music star Daddy Showkey has revealed how award-winning singer Wizkid introduced him to Instagram and helped him understand the platform.
Speaking during a video chat with British-Nigerian producer Maleek Berry, Daddy Showkey, whose real name is John Asiemo, shared the story of how a casual visit to Wizkid’s house turned into a turning point in his digital journey.
“I had gone to visit Wizkid at home, and during our time together, I noticed a lot of buzz happening online,” Daddy Showkey said.
“Wizkid had made a post about me, and suddenly I was trending on Instagram. People were talking about me, tagging me, but I didn’t even have an account back then.”

Surprised by the attention, he asked Wizkid to explain how the platform worked. That conversation led to Wizkid personally helping him open an Instagram account and teaching him how to use it.
“Wizkid told me, ‘Egbon, you need to be on Instagram. People love you and want to see you online.’ He helped me open the account and showed me how to use it,” he recalled.
Showkey also appreciated KCee, formerly of the group Kc Presh, for giving him more insights into how to engage with fans and stay active on the platform.
“After opening the account, KCee also stepped in. He showed me how to engage with fans, how to post, and how to stay relevant online. He really helped me understand how social media works,” Showkey added.
He further expressed his gratitude to both Wizkid and KCee in an Instagram post, saying, “I had a special call today from @maleekberry and I shared a story of how @wizkidayo introduced me and also helped me open my Instagram account, and how @iam_kcee also shared knowledge on how to navigate the app. Life is about learning, and applying the knowledge is key to the life we live now.”
