Davido recalls running errands for Don Jazzy, D’Banj in his early career

Grammy-nominated Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has shared a glimpse into his humble beginnings in the music industry, revealing that he once ran errands for music heavyweights Don Jazzy and D’Banj.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, Davido recounted how, as an aspiring artist in Atlanta, he often freestyled for the Mo’ Hits duo and was occasionally asked to pick up fast food for them, sometimes using his billionaire father’s Rolls Royce.

“In Atlanta, 2007 or 2008 or 2009… in my father’s house, I was freestyling for Don Jazzy and D’Banj. He sent me to go and buy McDonald’s with my papa car — Rolls Royce,” Davido said in the clip, prompting a wave of reactions from fans online.

Since then, Davido has released numerous hit songs and critically acclaimed albums, earning collaborations with international stars such as Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Lil Baby, and Usher.

He has also graced global stages, including the prestigious O2 Arena in London and the FIFA World Cup stage in Qatar.

In 2023, his fourth studio album, Timeless, earned him three Grammy nominations, placing him among a select group of Nigerian artists who have achieved such recognition.
