Bruno Fernandes has equalled Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for the most Premier League Player of the Month awards won by a Manchester United player – the sixth of his career -after he secured the March honour.
The Portuguese player beat Arsenal’s Declan Rice to the prize after a standout month that featured two goals, three assists, and three Man of the Match displays.
United went unbeaten in the Premier League in March. Fernandes found the net against Crystal Palace and Bournemouth, where he also provided two assists. His four goal involvements across four appearances helped Michael Carrick’s side as they climbed to third in the table.
The 31-year-old has now matched the achievements of two former United stars: Ronaldo and Steven Gerrard, who both won the prize on six occasions each. Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie have five. Only Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero, and Mohamed Salah sit ahead of Fernandes with seven.
Fernandes previously won Player of the Month four times in 2020, the year he joined from Sporting CP. His March victory is his first in nearly five years and extends his record as the only player in Premier League history to win the award four times in a single calendar year.
