The Federal Government has introduced a ₦10 million award to encourage impactful journalism and digital content around Nigeria’s tax reform efforts.
According to Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, the Excellence in Tax Reform Reporting Award is designed to reward journalists, bloggers, and influencers who produce accurate and engaging coverage of fiscal policy changes.
Oyedele said the initiative is part of a broader push to improve public understanding of tax reforms, counter misinformation, and foster trust in government efforts to simplify Nigeria’s tax system.
Entries must be published between July 1 and December 31, 2025, and can be submitted in English, Pidgin, Hausa, Igbo, or Yoruba. Eligible participants include professionals from print, broadcast, online media, and digital platforms such as podcasts and blogs.

The award offers ₦10 million to the overall winner, ₦5 million for second place, ₦3 million for third, and consolation prizes for the top 20 finalists. Submissions will be judged on clarity, accuracy, balance, creativity, and public engagement.
Applications will be accepted via the official portal fiscalreforms.ng by December 31, 2025.
Oyedele noted that the initiative supports the committee’s mission to harmonise Nigeria’s complex tax structure into a more efficient and inclusive system. He emphasised the role of media in shaping public perception and policy acceptance.
The award is expected to stimulate more informed reporting and digital commentary, helping citizens better understand how reforms affect their lives and the economy.
