The Minister of Livestock, Idi Maiha, met with the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the North-West Development Commission (NWDC) in Abuja to solidify a partnership aimed at empowering youth and women in the livestock sector across the North-West region.
The high-level meeting centred on establishing clear avenues for collaboration between the Ministry of Livestock and the Commission.
Discussions focused on creating a practical framework to strengthen capacity development, generate much-needed employment opportunities, and attract new investments into livestock value chains within the North-West.

This collaboration is viewed as a strategic move to address fundamental challenges facing the livestock sector in the region, while actively promoting inclusive economic growth among local communities.
Maiha emphasised the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to working closely with the NWDC to drive agricultural transformation.
In response, the NWDC CEO assured the Minister of the Commission’s readiness to lend full support to programs designed to significantly boost food production, create jobs, and improve the overall livelihoods of farmers and other stakeholders in the region.
