The Ondo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has dismissed reports claiming that Fiwasaye Girls’ Grammar School would shut down ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s visit to Akure.

In a statement issued yesterday, the ministry confirmed that academic and administrative activities would continue uninterrupted on Monday, 11 May 2026.

The clarification followed growing concerns among parents and residents over possible disruptions due to the President’s scheduled engagement near the school premises.

The ministry explained that it had already coordinated with relevant security agencies to ensure safety and smooth movement around the school environment during the visit.

Akindele Ige, Permanent Secretary of the ministry, said authorities had put adequate measures in place to manage traffic and regulate activities within the area to prevent disruption to learning.

He assured parents, staff and students that there was no reason for concern, stressing that normal school operations would continue as planned.

He also urged the public to disregard false information suggesting that classes had been suspended.

According to Ige, the students and teachers are expected to resume and carry out their duties as scheduled.

He said security personnel were deployed to maintain order and ensure safety within and around the school and temporary logistical arrangements were introduced to ease movement during the presidential visit.

“Appropriate arrangements have been put in place to ensure the safety, smooth movement and orderly conduct of activities within and around the school environment,” Ige said.

Ige reiterated the state government’s commitment to safeguarding academic activities while hosting important national engagements.
