Food Production: Ondo to support farmers with loans, modern tools

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has expressed commitment to modernizing agriculture and improving farmers’ access to loans, aiming to boost productivity and prosperity in farming communities across the state.

According to Aiyedatiwa’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, this commitment reflects the administration’s dedication to agricultural development, as expressed during a meeting with leaders of the Ondo State Farmers’ Congress.

During the meeting, Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized the crucial role of agriculture in the state’s economy, drawing from personal childhood experiences that highlighted the importance of farming.

Governor Aiyedatiwa reiterated his administration’s pledge to support farmers and enhance agricultural productivity through various measures, including expanding access to loans beyond existing schemes.

The delegation of farmers expressed gratitude to Governor Aiyedatiwa for his consistent support and proactive efforts in advancing agriculture in the state, led by Monilari Abayomi, President of the Ondo State Farmers’ Congress.

During the visit, Mr Abayomi underscored the importance of modern farming technologies, market access, and rural infrastructure development, praising the governor’s initiatives in these areas and stressing the need for continued collaboration between the government and farmers.

Mr Abayomi also commended the ongoing road construction projects linking urban centers to agricultural communities, recognizing their potential to facilitate the transportation of farm produce to markets.
