Francis Uzoho has completed a move to ALS Omonia in the Cypriot Second Division, ending his five-year stay at Omonia Nicosia.
The 27-year-old Nigerian goalkeeper was announced by his new club on August 29, marking a step down in his career as he seeks regular first-team football.
Uzoho’s departure from Omonia Nicosia came after the club signed Polish goalkeeper Kamil Grabara, pushing the Nigerian further down the pecking order. The club sanctioned his exit to allow him to find regular playing time.

He leaves Omonia Nicosia with a Cypriot First Division title to his name, having helped the club end a five-year wait for the championship in the 2025/26 season.
He made five league appearances during the title-winning campaign, keeping three clean sheets and conceding just three goals. He also won two Cypriot Cups with the club, in 2021/22 and 2022/23.

Uzoho joined Omonia Nicosia in September 2021 from APOEL Nicosia on a free transfer. He leaves the club as a title winner, with a Cypriot First Division trophy and two Cypriot Cups to his name. His contribution to the club’s success, particularly in the 2025/26 season, will be remembered by the club’s fans.
On the international stage, Uzoho made his senior debut for the Super Eagles in November 2017. He was Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. He also reached the Africa Cup of Nations final with Nigeria in 2024 and was part of the Golden Eaglets squad that won the 2013 U-17 World Cup. He has earned 29 caps for Nigeria, keeping 11 clean sheets.
ALS Omonia, founded in 2018, play their home matches at the Makario Stadium in Nicosia. The move to the Second Division gives Uzoho the chance to play regular first-team football and revitalize his career.
He was previously linked with a move to Karmiotissa in the Cypriot First Division, but ultimately chose to join ALS Omonia. His contract with Omonia Nicosia was due to run until 31 May 2027. The move is a fresh start for the goalkeeper, who will be hoping to earn a recall to the Super Eagles squad for upcoming international fixtures.
