Super Eagles: Eric Chelle names Unity Cup and friendlies squads ‎

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed two Super Eagles squads for upcoming fixtures, with head coach Eric Chelle unveiling a 26‑man list for the 2026 Unity Cup in London and a 28‑man roster for June international friendlies against Poland and Portugal. 

‎Chelle described the selections as a “strategic mix of experience and youth”, combining NPFL talents with Europe‑based regulars to prepare Nigeria for both immediate competition and long‑term campaigns. 

Unity Cup 2026 Squad (26 players)
‎The squad for the Unity Cup begins with three goalkeepers: Francis Uzoho (Omonia FC), Arthur Okonkwo (Wrexham FC), and Michael Atata (Ikorodu United). 

‎In defence, Chelle has called up Emmanuel Fernandez (Rangers), Chibuike Nwaiwu (Trabzonspor), Igoh Ogbu (Slavia Prague), Elias Ochobi (Rivers United), Chibueze Oputa (Rangers), Obinna Igboke (Rangers), and Bruno Onyemaechi (Olympiacos).

The midfield is anchored by Wilfred Ndidi (Beşiktaş), supported by Samson Tijani (Dukla Prague), Raphael Onyedika (Club Brugge), Tochukwu Nnadi (Club Brugge), Ebenezer Akinsanmiro (Pisa), Alhassan Yusuf (New England Revolution), Ayobami Junior (Shooting Stars), Tosin Oyedokun (Ikorodu City), and Aderemi Adeoye (Ikorodu City).

June International Friendlies Squad (28 players)
‎For the friendlies against Poland and Portugal, Chelle has expanded the list to 28 players. The goalkeepers include Maduka Okoye (Udinese), Francis Uzoho (Omonia FC), and Arthur Okonkwo (Wrexham FC). 

‎Defensive options are strengthened with Bruno Onyemaechi (Olympiacos), Zaidu Sanusi (FC Porto), Bright Osayi‑Samuel (Birmingham City), Calvin Bassey (Fulham), Semi Ajayi (Hull City), Emmanuel Fernandez (Rangers), and Igoh Ogbu (Slavia Prague). 

‎In midfield, Chelle has named Alex Iwobi (Fulham), Frank Onyeka (Coventry City), Wilfred Ndidi (Beşiktaş), Fisayo Dele‑Bashiru (Lazio), Raphael Onyedika (Club Brugge), Tochukwu Nnadi (Marseille), and Alhassan Yusuf (New England Revolution). 



‎The forward line is led by Ademola Lookman (Athletic Club), Samuel Chukwueze (Fulham), Moses Simon (Paris FC), Owen Oseni (Plymouth), Paul Onuachu (Trabzonspor), Akor Adams (Sevilla), Victor Osimhen (Galatasaray), and Terem Moffi (FC Porto). 

‎“We are building a team that can compete now and in the future. The Unity Cup gives us a chance to test NPFL players, while the friendlies against Poland and Portugal will sharpen our established internationals,” Chelle said. 

‎The Unity Cup runs from May 26–30 at Charlton Athletic’s Valley Stadium in London, with Nigeria facing Zimbabwe in the semi‑final and a possible final against Jamaica or India.

The friendlies follow in June, with matches against Poland on June 3 and Portugal on June 11, serving as vital preparation for the AFCON 2027 qualifiers and the 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.
